I think what drives most artist has to be the enjoyment of producing the art. After the disenchantment, and the struggle those who hold on, rarely have any other motive. Then why have exhibitions? Personally I feel a great part of art deals with the conversation and the exhibitions are the arenas for the discourse. I may be generalizing but I also think all artists want to be critiqued and viewed by the public. It helps an artist grow , plus, shows are usually a good party masked as an art exhibit. |

An artist to some extent is an activist. This may be due to current conditions in society, or perhaps it's always been that way. Since obtaining my degree I have participated in many activities both community orientated and personal. Examples of community orientated projects I have participated range from Americorps A Piece of Peace in 1998 to working with a community organization in Galway Ireland called The Macnas Theater and Parade Spectacular in preparation and presentation of a parade for the Galway arts, music and film festival in 1997. Personal exploits include artist co-ops in Oshkosh, galleries to art fairs. |

Art that interests me is impactive, intriguing and thought provoking. I hope to accomplish this in my own work. I also hope that you (the viewer) feel I have done so. Enjoy. |
